This site has been created to celebrate the Nordhavn 55 design.
The 55 is considered by many to be the smallest “large” Nordhavn and this model has proven to be incredibly popular and remains in high demand
The 55 hull mold was created with a deep centerline keel for the standard single main with wing propulsion configuration. A separate aft hull mold was developed with built in skegs for twin engine editions. The keel provides protection for the single propeller and rudder. The skegs do the same for both propellers and rudders. This innovative underbody mold with the flexibility to layup a single or twin arrangement was emulated on other Nordhavns.
Uniform 55 hull and deck molds have enabled consistent production. The hull mold is available in single or twin variations. The deck mold has produced all widebody’s (walking side deck on the starboard side) and all the flybridge is standard on all 55’s.
The first twin engine model ordered is hull 24. The engine room diesel tanks are slimmer (to accommodate two engines) and an additional tank was installed in the aft section of the basement below the guest cabin. The fuel capacity remains equal at 2,250 gallons (reported). Six twin engine 55’s were built.
The Nordhavn 55 model has been retired.
The Nordhavn 55 hull mold has been one of the most successful ever for the builder, P.A.E. In addition to the forty-five 55’s built, this same mold (modified to elongate) has been the foundation for producing dozens of Nordhavn 60’s and Nordhavn 63’s.
